This is a light summer colored retractable awning with valance (by SunCircle). A wind sensor is built in in the front rail, so the awning will retract itself when the wind is getting too strong.
This project is another example of an awning on the second floor of a house, keeping the upstairs deck and rooms shaded. Very nice, if we may say so ourselves.
